Summary:

Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology is developing National Telemedicine Platform which will support the delivery of telemedicine service in store and forward mode, in line with designing the network infrastructure to facilitate the service delivery across all health facilities.

The National Telemedicine Project will connect thirty four (35) across the country in which: -

  • Two hospitals in Zanzibar including Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Unguja and Abdalla Mzee Hospital in Pemba,
  • Six district hospitals including Nachingwea, Nyangao, Kilosa, Turiani, Nzega, and Chato,
  • Twenty Regional Referral Hospitals including Morogoro, Lindi, Katavi, Ruvuma, Tanga,
  • Mwanza, Mtwara, Rukwa, Kigoma, Songwe, Mara, Kagera, Singida, Arusha, Geita, Njombe, Geita, Iringa, Tabora, Shinyanga from mainland
  • Three zonal referral hospitals in mainland including Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, Bugando Hospital and Mbeya Zonal Referral hospital from mainland
  • Four specialized hospitals including Muhimbili National Hospital, Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, Ocean Road Cancer Institute and Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute.
