The Academics Directorate was established to provide expertise and support servicesto the Institute on matter related to academics. It is currently comprised ten (10)academic departments along with three academic-related departments and coordinationunits: Industrial Liaison and Career Guidance, Curriculum Coordination, andPostgraduate Coordination. Seven of these departments are situated at the DIT MainCampus, two are located at the Mwanza Campus, and one is at the Songwe Campus.Furthermore, steps are being taken to establish a department at the DIT DodomaTechnical College (DTC) Campus in the Dodoma Region.The functions of the Academics Directorate are as follows:

• To manage day to day operations of the Institute in regards to Academic activities;
• To prepare criterion to be used in determining both eligibility to join the Instituteby applicants and completion of the training by candidates before they areawarded their credentials;
• To ensure smooth linkages and exchanges of information between the Institute and NACTVET, and other stakeholders both locally and internationally;
• To advise the Deputy Rector (Academic, Research and Constancy) on Policy and strategies for teaching, learning, and developments, actions to be taken and responses to be made in relation to practical training curricular and standards;
• To deal with complaints relating to academic and professional training;
• To provide academic leadership in curricular and courses evaluation including regular review of programs;
• To establish and manage links with other academic Institutions both Locally, Regionally and Internationally; and
• To respond to various communications from within and outside the Instituterelating to practical training practice, curricular and standards;
